The State of Arizona has done it again. The state has made a law which essentially states that only the European perspective can be taught to students in public schools. The law forbids the teaching of ethnic studies such as Mexican American Studies or African American studies because they feel it leads to those groups hating white people. While this sounds like some sort of joke, a Dave Chapelle skit of a few years ago or something out of segregationist America. It is no joke. White legislators and a white Governor in Arizona has made it so only the white perspective is the only acceptable perspective. A sort of Eurocentric mandate.

The law is so unbelievably racist that United Nations human rights experts expressed concern. Stating that everyone has the right to learn about his own cultural and linguistic heritage. This law coupled with the prove you are an American citizen law is painting a clear picture of the state of Arizona.

This law too should be challenged. It eliminates teaching children history from different perspectives. The law does state that its okay to teach history of different cultures just so it doesn't promote ethnic solidarity or resentment. Translation just as long as it does not offend white people. The measure does not clearly define resentment or ethnic solidarity. Besides, there is no evidence that learning of one's own history or culture leads to the hatred of another. The notion is idiotic and should be an affront to educated people everywhere. On what basis does the guy who pushed this piece of legislation Arizona State schools chief Tom Horne think that cultural knowledge leads to hate of another group? Does he believe that European centered education lead to hate other races? Did his education give him a sense of entitlement? White privilege?

Actually given the language of the law teaching from the European perspective which is incidentally the perspective of how 99% of schools in America teach even in minority communities, may too be illegal. If teaching it promotes white solidarity or leads to white resentment of other ethnic groups then if African American and Mexican American and Jewish American and Native American studies can not be taught in Arizona then European centered education system and curriculum too should be banned.

Arizona what century are you in? What's next? Toilets for white's only?
